Mark Magid Bullet Points – Shiur for Sefer Yonah
• 4:11 (last pasuk!) What does Hashem mean when He says about Nineveh, “…there are more than 120,000 people who don’t know their right hand from their left?”
• How does Hashem’s reasoning appease Yonah who was worried that Nineveh’s teshuva meant punishment for the Jews?
• Why does Hashem mention “… uvehaimah rabbah,” that there are many animals in Nineveh?
Note: Starting Shabbos M’varchim in two months, we will begin a new series entitled “Great Moments in Tanach.” Some of the topics to be discussed will be:
Dovid vs Golias 2) Daniel and the lion’s den 3) Shimshon and the Pelishtim 4) The pilegash in Givah 5) Achan and Yericho 6) Ehud slays Eglon 7) Dovid appeases the Givonim 8) Dovid and Basheva 9) the Avshalom rebellion 10) Shlomo and the Queen of Sheva, plus many more!
Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva is writing a Sefer Torah in memory of the Rosh Yeshiva zt’l .
The Yeshiva is planning to bring the Sefer Torah to Los Angeles for the weekend when the Roshei Yeshiva come for the beginning of Selichos. (if you can volunteer to help bring tables and chairs to the Summers’ home on motzei Shabbos or on Sunday, please contact Rav Summers).
The Yeshiva has honored us by asking to bring the Sefer Torah to our home on Sunday Sept. 13th between 10:30 and 12:30. The Rav will be speaking at the event as well.
This to give all of us the opportunity to show ha’karas ha’tov to the Rosh Yeshiva zt’l for all that he did for us and the greater community of Los Angeles. People are encouraged to come and write in letters in memory of the Rosh Yeshiva zt’l and to contribute to the Yeshiva.
